STOTT PILATES Prenatal Pilates with Stability Ball and Flexband, Saturday September 30th, 11am-1pm; $110
The Stability Ball is a perfect tool to use with prenatal clients and adding resistance with the Flex-Band® exerciser delivers a safe and effective workout for moms-to-be. In this interactive seminar, developed by the Merrithew™ team, apply the most current medical information, exercise guidelines and research available on pregnancy and movement to innovative STOTT PILATES® exercise adaptations. Learn programming concepts for teaching small groups and private clients specifically in the second trimester. Discuss anatomical and physiological changes, risk factors and movement considerations and leave with strategies for building new prenatal programs as well as enhancing those already in progress.
STOTT PILATES Prenatal Pilates on the Reformer, Saturday September 30th, 1:30-3:30pm; $110
Learn the benefits of taking moms-to-be from traditional Matwork variations to select exercise modifications on the Reformer in this workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team. Using current exercise guidelines provided by the ACOG and bearing in mind common anatomical and physiological changes, appropriate STOTT PILATES® exercise adaptations are explored using the Reformer in innovative and beneficial ways. Workout safety and effectiveness remain paramount and the client’s risk factors, pre-pregnancy fitness level, health concerns and fitness goals are be taken in to account when creating new and ongoing programs.
TOTAL BARRE Modified for Pre and Post Natal, Saturday September 30th, 4-6pm; $110
Expectant and new mothers alike will reap the myriad benefits of exercising with music in this unique Total Barre™program. Not only will this workout keep new moms and moms-to-be moving, but the plus of moving to music will help tackle self-image issues, reduce stress, combat postural and muscle imbalances, and increase social interaction. Created by the programming brains at Merrithew™, the Total Barre template is used as the guideline in an appropriate workout for this very special population. Every move is designed to increase flexibility, balance, joint stability and pelvic floor activation all while boosting moods and lifting spirits.
STOTT PILATES Postural Theory and Application to Pilates Exercises, Sunday October 1st, 9am-1pm; $200
This hands-on workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team, outlines the importance of postural analysis in programming STOTT PILATES® workouts. Review ideal posture as well as specific deviations found in flat back, sway back and kyphosis-lordosis posture types. Discover how muscle imbalances typically manifest in static posture and practice conducting postural analysis. Finally, explore common Pilates exercise choices and modifications to accommodate these imbalances and work toward restoring adequate length and strength in the musculature over time.
STOTT PILATES Reformer for the Older Adult, Sunday October 1st, 2-4pm; $110
Explore the benefits of working on the Reformer for the older adult in this interactive workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team. Despite decrements associated with aging, the ability to adapt to endurance and strength training is well documented. The Reformer provides widely variable spring tensions to address both upper and lower body as well as core training. Modifications of exercises and considerations for limited mobility and strength issues are discussed with a view to enhance core stability, increase lean muscle mass, increase range of motion and improve body awareness.
